      Steve没能承受住Tony死去之前通过精神链接传来的绝望与之后链接断裂的剧痛，他本该碎裂成两半并从此分离的世界苟延残喘，名为爱的怪物吞噬了Steve愤怒与悲痛的残骸，直到他的栖息之所只剩下无尽的虚空，一个游魂由此得以趁虚而入，他们合二为一，从此再不分离。

      Bruce收到了来自复仇者的求助，但他还没见到Steve，就知道他已经无药可救。因为他的内心也有一个巨大的空洞，从小巷的枪声响起的那一刻就开始存在，他习以为常却又无知无觉，直到他因此失去Dick与Jason又几乎失去Tony的友谊，他的感知终于复苏，他才明白Clark曾经来过，那是一阵温暖和煦的风，当Clark的血肉化为尘土，Bruce恍然大悟，那个空洞的名字叫痛苦。

      Steve didn’t survive the pain coming from the other side of the bond while Tony passed away and the agony arising out of that bond falling apart. The world should have shattered into two remained one, the monster called love devoured the debris of Steve’s wrath and anguish, until where he anchored his soul left nothing but a constant of vacancy. A ghost seized the chance to intrude, he and Steve merged into each other, and they were never to be divided, ever.

      Bruce understood the avengers were calling him for help, but he perceived already that Steve could not be saved, for Bruce had a void in him as well, which had existed since that awful sound of a bullet echoed in the alley. He knew the void so well, got used to it, while he was also clueless about it; and he lost Dick, and Jason, and Tony’s friendship, one by one because of it, then his sense of feeling at last came back to him. Thus it can be told that Clark had been there like a wind warm and mild, and when his flesh turned to ashes, Bruce finally recalled the name of the void: torment.
